ONMYOUJI by mementomoryo ONMYOUJI by mementomoryo
My sincere apologies for the 4 month-long wait between submissions. Life got in the way like never before - breakups, mounds of schoolwork, my job... but now it's Christmas vacation, and everything's calmed down. So, without further ado, here's my newest painting!

It's a fanart of the film Onmyouji, which I watched about a month ago and fell in love with. The movie itself is prone to its share of melodrama, but it's tons of fun to watch. I'm a big fan of the Heian era, so the fact that it takes place during that time period and that Abe no Seimei (the title character and the one in the front) is in it sucked me in. :)

That's Abe no Seimei in the front, with my personal take on Mitsumushi (his butterfly-lady-spirit guide thingie) next to him, and Minamoto no Hiromasa right behind him.

Watercolor, pencil, gel pen.

Will you ever stop with your beautiful artwork? <3 I love the japanese horror series, anddddd I based some of my art class's work off of your work [off of movies, lolz] :3 I love how you tie them all together ^^

Thanks for the compliments!

I'm just a bit curious about your art class's work - Do you mean you based the layout or design on mine directly, or is it the subject matter? I appreciate your admiration, but please don't base your art off of mine and then use it to get marks. :(

It was 2 years ago, and it was a drawing assignment. We were told to take things we liked and put them into a design, then tie them together somehow. I saw yours a while before that and had looked up the girl from Audition and Battle Royale and became fans of the movies, so I put the two girls sitting beside each other with a stage as the background and drew a school and guns as the stage's background. Lol, in a way I sorta based it off of your Audition picture [my favorite one] and tied them all up with piano wire. If I can find it or remake it, I could show you.

If any of that made sense, I used more subject matter than yours directly ^^;

Okay! I wasn't blaming you, but I was curious as to what extent you used those motifs. Thanks for the tribute! :)

Believe me, I've done similar things when time was of the essence in art class. :)

Za loveliness, the demon-references to the odd and eerie in folklore that is no longer just folklore here, the curls, the blue, and the smug little glint in his eye...

Ha! I am finally getting around to commenting on all the pieces that have needed my attention! I always save yours until I know I can give a good comment ^_^ Unfortunatly..it has taken...quite a few months for me to get in the proper mindset for this^^''' My apologies.

As always, your attention to detail is amazing. I don't know how you get so much patience, but it really does pay off. I love the cool color of the picture overall. Blue is my favorite, so it gets bonus points for that ^_^ Mitsumushi is absolutely beautiful *_* I love her face! ~squeals~ It's so gorgeous!

Once again you have taken many components and formed a beautiful piece. This one just flows amazingly. It has a certain, fluid feel to it. Everytime I see your art for one of these movies, it makes me want to go out and see it myself! YAY!

Bloody hell!!:wow: This is again nothing but stunning. I don't even know where to start describing how wonderful this looks! The characters looks are again so alive and I love the way how you arranged their poses....it just blends so well together! I haven't seen this movie yet, but you -yet again- mad me to urgently want to watch it! Your coloration skills are just perfect(no way to deny that:D) and all these pretty little details in the background add more to the loveliness of this pic. And the way you draw hair and curly lines and make them look so awesome always makes my jaw drop ^^
You clearly gave a piece of your own soul into this picture. I really really adore it.:love: Thanks for always drawing and posting such beautiful artwork, it's always a joy to look at it!:hug:

I adore how you've put your own spin on the characters. I'm a fan of the movie as well (have you seen the sequel?) and I gotta say I wish they'd made Hiramasa a little more tough. But that's alright since everyone's favorite son of a fox spirit stole the show. I loved Seimei's witty dialogue and mischevious grin. The profile you've given him in this piece really emphasizes that scheming playfulness. Great work! The abstracted smoke and patterns are simply beautiful. I definitely love your version of the butterfly servant..MUCH more appealing.
